Areas of Professional Interest
Rachel has a special interest in trauma and how it affects the brain and day-to-day mental health. She has extensive knowledge and experience in teaching others about trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), as well as the benefit of a trauma sensitive approach to mental health.
Experience
With experience in non-profit and educational settings, Rachel has experience working with people from all walks of life, people in different seasons of life, and people with various forms of trauma. In the mental health field, she has been a therapist in a school system for many years, and she has also worked extensively with internationals and refugees.
Education
Rachel holds a bachelor’s degree as well as a master’s degree in social work, both of which she received from the University of Alabama. She is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She is also an LICSW Supervisor and values sharing her experience with young social work professionals who are starting out.
Personal
Rachel and her husband have been married for 22 years and have three teenage children. She enjoys supporting her children in their numerous endeavors, as well as reading and traveling abroad to experience other cultures.
