Areas of Professional Interest

Jamie Hill is a licensed therapist with over 25 years of experience working with children, teens and adults. She considers it a great privilege to be invited into another person’s world to help them walk through difficult times. She believes strongly that we are all created in God’s image, that we are all valued and loved, and that God works through each of us to help one another.

Experience

Jamie began working at a child advocacy center after graduation, focusing on abuse investigation and recovery from trauma. She has also worked in community mental health, as a school counselor in public education, a therapist at a children’s hospital and as a mental health/behavior consultant for several state agencies. She has experience working with very young children up to adults. She enjoys supporting and encouraging adults in the care of their children. She also enjoys providing a safe space for all clients to share their experiences, work through their struggles and find hope for the future.

Education

After beginning her undergraduate work at UAB, she transferred to University of Montevallo and there earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1994 and masters of agency counseling in 1996. It was during her time at Montevallo that Jamie discovered play therapy and her enjoyment in working with children.

Personal

Jamie is married to Doug and enjoys spending time with her adult and (almost) adult children and grandchildren. She likes to create things in the kitchen and with a sewing machine and is interested in learning more about physical health and wellness.

Jamie is dedicated to helping her clients realize their worth and ability to persevere and heal through life’s challenges.
