A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), or Psych NP, is an advanced practice nurse with a master’s level degree or higher who specializes in mental health care for all ages. The American Association of Nurse Practitioners defines this role as one that is to “assess, diagnose, and treat the mental health needs of patients across the lifespan.” Being licensed as a PMHNP allows for diagnosis, prescribing medications, and managing treatment plans for clients seeking improved mental health.
At Noonday, our mission is to evaluate, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions by considering the whole person—rather than just focusing on symptoms.
You might be curious about what the process involves:
Initially, we conduct psychiatric evaluations to understand everyone’s background and collaboratively establish your treatment priorities. Once this foundation is set, we can discuss appropriate interventions. Noonday has a history of providing psychotherapy, occupational therapy, qEEG brain mapping, and IASIS microcurrent therapy, and these modalities remain available here. Our nurse practitioners offer additional services, including comprehensive assessments, medication management, advanced laboratory testing, and personalized recommendations for supplements and lifestyle adjustments—all aimed at supporting your nervous system health and enhancing your overall quality of life.
We work to utilize and integrate evidence-based therapies and approaches that support long-term healing. Our training allows us to consider how factors like trauma, stress, sleep, lifestyle, physical health, and nervous system regulation impact mental health.
The overall goal of our psychiatric services at Noonday is to build a collaborative, therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to take an active role in your care. Mental health treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it’s our ongoing role to help create a plan that truly fits you.
